Where I live, there is an Advanced Auto Parts store directly across the street from an Autozone store. And they are building a new O’Reilly Auto Parts just down the street. My casual observation is this is not uncommon. I have shopped all of these stores and none of them seem to stand out on price, service, or customer experience. Other than branding, I wouldn’t be able to tell them apart. The long term trend is fewer people are maintaining and servicing their own vehicles. And with e-commerce taking a growing market share, how have these companies been able to avoid consolidation and are actually expanding in a shrinking market?
