The original AT&T and nearly all their competitors have combined into 3 massive companies: AT&T, Verizon, and CenturyLink. Most of the rural & competitive Internet providers along with one “Baby Bell” US West have been acquired by CenturyLink, while most of the original AT&T company assets are with AT&T and Verizon.
