Record Breakers was a line of toy cars from Hasbro in the 1980s to 1990s. The motor used 2 AA batteries, and the car was usually fitted with 6 guide wheels (3 on each side of the car) so that it can maneuver around a walled track. They came in kits that kids could put together and customize, including a tiny tube of lithium grease. The cars had a manual 2w / 4w drive selector switch underneath, to choose between speed or power for the terrain. There was even a TV show broadcast on Nickelodeon featuring races, and kids’ secrets to customizing their cars. It seemed like a great toy; I know I enjoyed it.
