Started as Zondervan Stores in the 1930s, Grew as large as 350 stores in the late 90s, early 2000s through acquisition and expansion. Took a major shift in the early 2000s when Dave Browne and Cliff Bartow from LensCrafters took over, drove a Christian company to open on Sundays in 2003, and led the company to its decline in 2017, when all stores went out of business. Part of the life-saving measures included becoming a non-profit company, even though profits were still being recirculated into itself, and drove many creditors and companies out of business when trying to save their own business.
