There used to be several chains of family steakhouses, for lack of a better phrase. I grew up in Ohio in the 70s and 80s, and there were Ponderosa and Bonanza steakhouses everywhere. I’m pretty sure neither one exists any longer. I moved to NC in ’88 (been here ever since). There were Ryan’s and Western Sizzler franchises here. I don’t see any of these types of restaurants anymore. I’m just wondering why they all disappeared. I’m guessing the rise of Golden Corral is a factor.
