Many major blockbuster films, such as Return of the Jedi, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Forrest Gump, and the entire Lord of the Rings trilogy do their accounting so that they technically lose money on paper, solely to avoid paying actors/writers/directors/etc. with a percentage of net profit as part of their contracts.
