So much to unravel – Johnson started in 1903, Evinrude in 1907, two of the oldest engine manufacturers. Johnson almost went under in the depression, was bought by Evinrude (then Outboard Motors Corporation), and they made motors until finally Evinrude was discontinued in 2020. I read at one point they had over a third of outboard motor market share. It’s an iconic American brand that’s defunct now.
