There’s a number of problems with the US healthcare system. But a notorious, yet oft unmentioned one is LabCorp. Between them seemingly having way to large of a stake in lab based blood work, which is often required for medical visits, which – since not in house, is often not covered by the office or under health insurance, thus leaving patients on the hook for bills that often end up being upwards of $300. And if you don’t get these labs done, you get locked out of things like Doctor’s visits (and this necessary medication prescriptions that come with), life insurance, and potential vital government programs like Vocational rehabilitation for “noncompliance.” Especially leaving those in lower income thresholds unable to get access to those service (which often compromises the last group, which they need to earn a living and survive, putting them in an unwinnable catch 22 scenario).
