“Life Magazine” drove American culture for decades and then just disappeared. Long before the decline of the rest of the magazine industry, that suffered due to the internet and the recession. Apparently* President Kennedy saw “Life Magazine” as “the most influential instrument in the country.” And the US government used the publications for all kinds of propaganda including The Space Race. From my limited knowledge it looks like “Life” helped us get the public support to the moon and then disappeared. What happened?
I think there could also be some parallels to what’s going on currently in our on-going struggle to determine what news sources we can trust. But I would understand if you wouldn’t want to wade into those waters. It is a polarizing issue.
Anyway “The Rise and Fall of Life Magazine.” Vote for it people!
