A late 90’s independent children’s media company. Their own productions only consisted of two original TV series, each under their own separate divisions: the long-running, easy-to-find and mostly-hated “Barney & Friends” (by Lynos Partnership), and the short-lived, difficult-to-find and well-beloved “Wishbone” (by Big Feats! Entertainment). They were also the North-American distributors for videos and CDs of the Australian children’s band, “The Wiggles,” and play a VERY crucial part of VeggieTales’ history as the series’ mass market distributor. They also had two book-publishing divisions: “Big Red Chair Books” and “Lyrick Publishing.” Many have known Lyrick’s fate of being acquired by HiT for a long time, but few know the more extensive details on what led the company to such a sad fate like that. The “What’s the Story, Wishbone?” documentary, and Phil Vischer’s book, “Me, Myself & Bob,” are great sources for covering a video on Lyrick’s history. One can’t ever do a video on HiT Entertainment WITHOUT covering Lyrick Studios first.
