Remington Outdoor Company

America’s oldest firearms maker, founded in 1816, once had a major presence in a wide variety of industries and has been the producer of many iconic firearms. Among them are the Model 1100 and 870 shotguns, as well as the Model 700 rifle, which was used as a sniper rifle by the U.S. military for several years. Remington also owns and produces many other well-known firearm brands, such as Marlin, Bushmaster, DPMS, Para Ordnance, and others. Considering all of this, it comes as a surprise that such a historically successful company filed for bankruptcy in March, 2018 and has undergone extensive lay-offs and downsizing at its manufacturing facilities, some of which are still ongoing. I would love to hear your take on the causes of the company’s decline and outlook for the future.
