These are the main 4 companies that distribute tools to mechanics in the US. They all use a model selling a franchise to independent dealers who purchase and resell the tools. It would be interesting to compare how they’ve competed over time, and more recently with Harbor Freight tools and online. Matco tools originally spun off from Mac and one of the founder’s names is Cornwell. Not sure if it’s actually the same cornwell family or not from basic research.
