Sonos is a maker of high-end audio equipment. Their equipment must be set up and is controlled by their app. In May 2024 they rushed a revamp an update of their app which “bricked” many of their items. The fallout has been huge – $100 million in lost revenue, a $500 million drop in market value, the resignation of their CEO and Marketing Chief. The fallout continues into 2025. User backlash has been fierce and the many wonder if the company will be bought by someone like Apple. A definite cautionary tale.
