The company announced Selen’s termination on 5 February, citing breaches of contract, internal rule violations, misleading statements on social media, and actions causing payment delays for fan creators. However, the announcement sparked controversy as multiple creators who worked with her refuted claims of payment delays, attributing them instead to Nijisanji’s management. Additionally, accusations regarding copyright acquisition procedures for a song cover posted by Selen were contested, with Selen claiming prior approval. Her last Twitter statements revealed her hospitalization in December 2023, reportedly due to a Self ko attempt triggered by poor management and a toxic environment. Nijisanji’s subsequent statement downplayed the financial impact of Selen’s termination, but it led to repercussions like HYTE terminating projects with Nijisanji and a decline in parent company Anycolor Inc.’s stock value. Prior to Selen’s termination, Liver Zaion LanZa had also been terminated under allegations of copyright infringement and offensive remarks, which were refuted in a document released by VTuber Sayu Sincronisity (same Vtuber as lanZa)
