Through out the early 2000s and late 2010s there was a trend in the game industry called licensed games where people makes games out of a already existing IP I want to know the history of licensed games because it fells like a cool niche to talk about! Especially since one of the 1st few licensed games is ET! A antri game that is often cited for causing the video game crash of 1987! It make me wounder how licensed games blew up in the 1st place! Especially since it seems like every single company got at lest 4-12 licensed game under their belt M&Ms,DC and even AMC! along with 20 other companys competing in the licensed games market! But right now in the 2020s it seems like every single company expect 3 has left the licensed games market Disney nickelodeon and Marvel all stayed in licensed games market! While people argue the reason why liencse games are being phased out because this generation is more cautious of their money! Well if that is the cause then explain why the spider man game for PS4 and nick all stars sold 100K copy’s and if you think the reason they sold so much because they are aimed for kids! Then all of the companies who left the market could of stayed! To promote their brand Since kids will buy anything form their favorite IP! In short I just wonder why company’s no longer view licensed games as a viable option to promote their own brand! Since I argue it is the most effective way to promote their own brand besides buying ad space form TV channels and websites. I Just wounder if their is a deeper reason behind why licensed games are pheased out besides the whole this generation is more careful on how they spend their money argument! Thank you! :)-Sprite XP
